Lead Designer
Opportunity: CARS TG Web is the front end web service that over 10 US States and three countries use to display road events to the greater public. The CARS group (a committee assembled by participating states) commissioned me to design a new, modern, responsive, web service that changes how their users interact and experience this critical service.
Process: Being a responsive design we used mobile-first design principles as we started to create low fidelity adaptive views. TG Web has an immense amount of features, the goal was to clean up the cluttered UI while still permitting users to intuitively find and interact with features.
We leveraged map layers and tabs to show/hide the feature set. Tabs tested really well in our user testing, users we able to manage the tabs and find the information they were looking for. After many iterations, we found a design that managed to hit our usability design goals and was received very well our user testing.
